Arto Deniselo, named the Sword of Lightning by King Oligio Montesi, was born in this humble section of Vis Bena. His exploits fill books of history and include heroic acts in three foreign wars as well as many deeds within the borders of Arania. He has never been known to have lost a battle or duel. The king himself raised Sir Deniselo to the rank of lord and knight because of his part in single-handedly foiling the rebellion of 2852 of the Third Age. The self-proclaimed highlight of his life was training the hero Erent Caahs, referring to it as “the most beautiful dueling” in which he had ever had the privilege to partake.

“Huh,” Tere said. “That last part is new.”

“Wow,” Aila said. “Never lost a duel or a battle? Who can say that?”

“Not me,” Tere said with a sad smile.

“Not even him,” Lily said.

Aila cocked her head at the archer. “What?”

Lily smiled at her and then at Tere. “I heard a rumor that a certain former student, during one of his visits, engaged in one of those beautiful duels with Arto and beat him.”

Tere swiveled his head to look around, though with his sight, he didn’t need to. “Shh. Don’t say things like that. The man is a hero and a national treasure.”

Lily’s smile turned into a smirk. “Are you saying that it’s not true?”

“The man was seventy-two years old at the time,” Tere said. “I was thirty-four. And I still barely beat him to what could have been a deadly strike.”

She nodded, her smirk never slipping.

“Come on,” he said. “Let’s go before all these men who are staring at you organize into a mob to protect Arto’s honor.”
